In April 2010, Geert Lovink took part in an international workshop in Bellagio (Italy) on the role of future scenarios within the development sector. The title of the closed event was “Trend Monitoring and Horizon Scanning” and was organized by the Society for International Development (SID) and the Rockefeller Foundation. Obviously new media technologies are playing an important part in these considerations, way beyond what is happening in the ICT for development sector. This week a report, based on the workshop, came out. Geert Lovink was one of its contributors with an essay on “Media Activism in the Age of Web 2.0.” (p. 32-35). You can download the .pdf here.
