Het Instituut voor Netwerkcultuur (HvA) en Domein voor Kunstkritiek brengen in samenwerking met de Boekmanstichting in het voorjaar van 2016 een dubbelpublicatie uit over hedendaagse kunstkritiek. Naast de papieren editie van Tijdschrift Boekman verschijnt bij het Instituut voor Netwerkcultuur een aparte digitale collectie onder de noemer Utopia van de Kunstkritiek. Wij zijn vooral op zoek naar experimentele bijdragen waarin tot uitdrukking komt hoe de kunstkritiek de vele uitdagingen van de digitale internet technieken aanneemt en verder voert.
In de bijdragen kunnen bijvoorbeeld de volgende vragen aan bod komen: welke mogelijkheden bieden de digitale media en hoe kunnen we op een zinvolle wijze online kritiek bedrijven? Hoe werkt tekstuele, audiovisuele of interactieve kunstkritiek online en wat zijn de gevolgen van de diversiteit aan stemmen, publicatiemogelijkheden en het ontstaan van nieuwe kritische genres als de longform?
In onze collectie nemen we op wat misschien nu nog tot het rijk van de utopieën behoort maar in de toekomst praktijk kan worden: de veelheid aan vormen van kritiek en metakritiek, verspreid over alle disciplines van de kunsten in alle mogelijke vormen, van video-essays, podcasts en longreads tot e-maildiscussies en critifiction, tools om automatisch sterren uit te delen en algoritmische amazonreviews te creëren.

De deadline voor je bijdrage is 4 januari 2016. In februari 2016 gaat de digitale collectie in productie.
Voor zowel kritische, journalistieke als kunstzinnige producties is, in overleg, een budget beschikbaar.

Open Call: Utopia of Art Criticism
The Institute of Network Cultures and the Domein voor Kunstkritiek will launch a dual publication on contemporary art criticism in the spring of 2016. In addition to a printed edition on criticism by Boekman magazine, the Institute of Network Cultures will produce a separate digital collection titled Utopia of Art Criticism. We are now looking for experimental contributions which reflect on how art criticism takes on the many challenges of digital technologies and the Internet.
The collection will address the following questions: What is the potential of digital media and how can we practice in depth criticism online? How does textual, audio-visual or interactive art criticism work, and what are the consequences of the diversity of voices, publishing capabilities and the emergence of new critical genres such as the longform?
In this collection we will comprise what perhaps still belongs to the utopian realm but may be possible or useful in the future: the multiplicity of forms of criticism and meta-criticism in all disciplines of the arts in all forms, from video essays, podcasts and longreads up to e-mail discussions, automatic rating tools and algorithmic Amazon reviews.

The deadline for contributions is 4 January 2016. The digital collection will go into production in February 2016.
