Each year hundreds of students graduate from a fine arts school in the Netherlands. But what exactly does it mean to be a ‘professional artist’? And what role does the art academy itself play in establishing and upholding this profession? During this evening, art students and educators speak about that future of art education in the Netherlands. What are the current challenges art students see themselves faced with? And what are art academies preparing their students for in a society where becoming a professional artist is becoming increasingly difficult?

Speakers: Nadia Dattatreya (student Willem de Kooning Academy & Erasmus University), Sepp Eckenhaussen (Institute of Network Cultures & St.Joost Academy), Jessica Kuhn (student KABK & Rietveld Academy), Huib Haye van der Werf (podcaster Art School(ed)), and Veronica Baas (De Balie). More t.b.a.
