French theorist Jean Baudrillard, who died on March 7, 2007, has had a major influence on me. His passing away has kept me busy over the week, going back to his texts, reading the orbituaries and postings on lists. The text that stayed with me was written by Arthur Kroker. What is the task ahead for the generations that no longer grew up in WWII, that did not go through existentialism and May 1968? How will radical theory look like tomorrow? Before we get there, I felt the urge to discuss the death of Jean Baudrillard with Australian-American writer McKenzie Wark. Our email exchange was first posted on the Empyre list, where they are currently debating the works of Baudrillard.
