Transportation in and around the city
Renting a bike is usually the best way to get around in Amsterdam. The city is not big and biking is good for you and nice. Grab a bike at one of the MacBike places.
The public transport in Amsterdam is quite well organized and all operared by GVB. Taxis work like you would expect, but they’re quite expensive (count on € 15 for a 10 minute ride in the city, more at night). More local travel info you can find at the official tourist site. You can also check this website to find directions including public transport.
Don’t forget
-Amsterdam in March is cold and the weather is not really pleasant, so remember to bring your winter clothes, umbrellas etc.!
